Below please find some of the most frequently asked questions regarding COVID-19:

ÖSTERREICHISCHE POST SERVICE LOCATIONS:

Are all Österreichische Post service locations open?
All our branches and postal partners are currently open.

What protection measures have been taken at Österreichische Post branches?
Due to the COVID19 regulation effective as of 1.6.2022, the FFP2 mask requirement previously in force in all post offices has ended.

To make it easier to maintain distances, additional floor markings have been installed in our branches. Our branches are also equipped with disinfectant dispensers for the customer area.

Are there any limitations for international postal service?
Unfortunately, for the time being, we cannot accept letter mail and parcels for certain destinations. For more information, please click here

DELIVERY

Are there any delivery restrictions?
We follow our standard delivery procedure by asking recipients to sign on our delivery staff’s mobile devices. These devices are disinfected on a regular basis and recipients have the option of using their own pen. Please use our contactless delivery options, including release delivery authorisation, parcel forwarding, etc.

Is the cash-on-delivery service still available?
Yes, it is available. Our delivery staff will give the recipient an envelope in which the money will be placed and handed back. If clients do not want this process, the item will be deposited at the closest Österreichische Post service location for collection (with the option of cashless payment if available). If the client does not approve of any of these solutions, the item will be returned to the sender.

Will I still receive my pension payments, employment benefits, etc.?
Our delivery staff will give clients an envelope with the money in it. This process is contactless and the minimum distance will be kept. Clients just have to check the amount is correct and confirm receipt by signing with their own pen. This procedure does not apply to Vienna, since pension payments and employments benefits will continue to be paid out at Österreichische Post service locations.

How will official RSa and RSb letters (letters from public authorities) be delivered?
RSa and RSb letters will be delivered by having the recipient or the alternate recipient sign the advice of receipt or providing the signature on the delivery person’s mobile device. When asking for the signature, we have instructed our delivery staff to keep a safety distance. If this is not possible, they must wear a face mask.
If neither the recipient nor anyone else living in the same household is home, RSa and RSb letters can be deposited at the postal branch/at the Post Partner in charge and can be picked up before the deadline defined by law.

How are items that require documentation delivered?
Registered items and parcels are delivered after the (alternate) recipient has personally signed for them on the delivery person’s mobile device. If neither the recipient nor anybody living in the same household is home, the first option is an existing release delivery authorisation or an Österreichiche Post Mail Collection Box so that items can be deposited on site. If this is not possible, items will be deposited at a pick-up station (if available) and, as a last option, at the counter of the respective postal branch.

How are contracts, Identbrief letters and registered letters with advice of receipt delivered?
These are delivered after the recipient has personally signed on the delivery person’s mobile device. If the recipient is not home, she or he will be notified and will have to pick up the item at the postal branch because the ID and ID data need to be recorded. If clients do not want to sign with the delivery person’s pen, they can use their own.

Is mail forwarding available for letters with advice of receipt?
Yes, this can be done with an Österreichische Post mail forwarding request, except if the public authority in question has instructed us to exclude mail forwarding.
