Legal background

Pursuant to Section 7 of the Austrian Postal Act, at least 1,650 Österreichische Post service locations must be available to clients throughout Austria.

These Österreichische Post service locations may include service locations op-erated by Österreichische Post itself or by third parties. Service locations op-erated by Österreichische Post are staffed with the company's own employees; service locations operated by third parties are operated based on a contractual agreement with Österreichische Post AG.

Österreichische Post service locations are access points where clients can post their postal items for processing in the Österreichische Post network or pick them up.

At Österreichische Post service locations, universal postal services must be available. Universal postal services include the following:

• Pick-up, sorting, shipping and delivery of mail items weighing up to 2 kg.
• Pick-up, sorting, shipping and delivery of parcels weighing up to 20 kg and
• Registered mail and insured items services.
