Traditions 15.05.2024
Four motifs of typical Austrian traditions grace this miniature sheet from the "Beautiful Austria" series.
Included is the annual Daffodil Festival in Ausseerland region, which features figures intricately formed from star daffodils and is Austria's largest flower festival. The "Sturm" is a traditional local autumn drink: red or white grape must that has just started fermenting. The third motif shows a cup of coffee and a cake with whipped cream, typically served in a coffee house, while the fourth stamp features a button accordion, a type of accordion with buttons instead of keys, which is a characteristic instrument in Alpine folk music and also in Viennese Schrammel music. The four stamp motifs on the theme of traditions have previously been issued as dispenser stamps.
