On 23 June, the presentation of the commemorative stamp "Pilgrimage Church of Mariastein" took place in the high-altitude chapel of grace of the pilgrimage church.
Mariastein, the motif of the "Churches in Austria" series, is an unusual place of pilgrimage: it is located in the massive tower of a medieval castle perched high on a rock.

Mariastein, the motif of the "Churches in Austria" series, is an unusual place of pilgrimage: it is located in the massive tower of a medieval castle perched high on a rock.
Mariastein is one of the most important places of pilgrimage in Tyrol. The castle was built around 1360 by the Lords of Freundsberg on a terrace in the Lower Inn Valley near Wörgl. The 42-metre-high residential tower with its two chapels is striking; the castle ensemble also includes a residential wing and a staircase tower. Two lansquenets painted in 1959 decorate the wall next to the entrance gate.
