Bentwoond Furniture – Michael Thonet
Everybody has seen them, those traditional chairs in Viennese cafés with the bent backrest. This chair was invented by the carpenter and eventual entrepreneur Michael Thonet, who ended up creating a true cult object.
Austrian Post is honouring this furniture pioneer with a special-issue stamp in the "Austrian inventions" series.
On the day of issue, the special post office will be cancelling this new coil stamp with the special first-day postmark.
