Four franking machine manufacturers

Franking machines are not manufactured or sold by Österreichische Post, but by four authorised manufacturers in Austria. For detailed information about franking machines, please contact the manufacturers directly.

Registering your franking machine 

When you purchase a franking machine, the manufacturer will register it with Österreichische Post so that you will be able to use it. To do that, the manufacturer will need the user agreement agreement signed by your company. This contract will be forwarded to Österreichische Post.

Adding postage credit

In order to pay for postage with a franking machine, you need to add postage credit to your franking machine. For information about technical requirements, please ask the manufacturer.

Changes to your franking machine

Please inform the manufacturer of your franking machine about any changes to your company name, your address, or the location of your franking machine. The manufacturer will then forward this information to Österreichische Post.

Refunds for postage

There are several options for postage refunds. Details can be found in the ‘Request for postage reimbursement’ form in the download area below, as well as in the ‘Terms of Use – Franking Machines’ and the ‘Price List – Franking Machines’.

Cancelling the registration for your franking machine

You can cancel your franking machine's registration at any time by contacting the manufacturer.

Consumables

Consumables for your device (e.g., colour cartridges) are available from the manufacturer of your franking machine. Österreichische Post does not sell franking machines or consumables.

In the case of technical problems, please contact the manufacturer of your franking machine.

Every time you add postage credit to a latest generation franking machine, you will receive an immediate 1% discount on the postage you are adding.

You can add postage credit and frank your items 24/7.

Cashless postage payment

You can add postage electronically any time you want. The cashless invoicing process will be handled by the manufacturer. 

Define cost centres

You can define different cost centres for individual billing. This allows you to match the use of postage to specific departments.

Save time

Large volumes of mail can be handled easily. Additional modules, e.g., automated loading, letter scales, folding and envelope stuffing technology, etc. make your mail handling processes even easier and also more efficient.

Advertising indicia

You can use customised advertising indicia as an easy way for your letter mail items to stand out from the crowd. You might choose your company's logo to achieve an additional advertising effect with every item you post.

Traceability

Every item will have its unique identifier thanks to the continuous numbering, which makes items easy to trace.
 

Security

Every franking machines produces tamper-proof imprints. 

Convenient additional services

Our additional services "simple registered mail" and "registered mail" are franked along with postage. Some models have the option to manage the required bar codes and to print them out.
