Day of issue and commemorative stamp, Pinzgau Local Train, and philately day

Austrian Post presents the historic Pinzgau Local Train as this year's commemorative stamp in the "Railways" series. The narrow-gauge railway in Bosnian gauge still runs through Salzburg's Oberpinzgau region today, sometimes with historic vehicles. The nostalgic class 2095 diesel locomotive from 1958 and 1961 in the characteristic colour red can be seen on the stamp.

The Pinzgau Local Train, also known as the Krimml Railway, opened in 1898 and connects Zell am See with Krimml over a 53-kilometre route. It runs alongside scenic attractions such as the Hohe Tauern National Park and the Krimml Waterfalls. Historic passenger carriages and locomotives are also used on the railway line. The operator is Salzburg Linien Verkehrsbetriebe GmbH. Since 2021, a rail replacement service with buses has been running on part of the route, as the railway line running along the Salzach Valley was hit by severe flood damage. After extensive renovation work, the entire route should be accessible by train again from 2025.
